GHANA

"No place for misfits"

The PNDC has warned that all those who show themselves unfit to hold office in its name will be removed.

A statement issued from the PNDC Secretariat pointed out that representatives of government are expected to command the respect and confidence of the public and any citizen who fails to measure up to the highest standard brings the values and ideals of the revolution into disrepute.

In line with these objectives, the PNDC has terminated the appointment of Yaw Apowu, deputy regional Secretary for Brong Ahafo and Francis Kumi, district Secretary for Sunyani.

The statement explained that the immature approach of the two men to public office is reflected in their inability to accept instruction from higher authority, their refusal to cooperate and respect those with whom they have had to work with and their irresponsible attitude to State property.

Referring to attempts to destablize the revolution, Capt. Tsikara said the current situation in Ghana is completely in our hands.

On Ghana's relations with Cuba, Capt. Tsikata described them as very good. He expressed satisfaction with the agreement so far reached with Cuab. He praised Cuban assistance to Ghana in several fields and made mention of the arrival of 600 Ghanaian youths on the Isle of Youth to study in various institutions. Capt. ZAMBIA SUPPORTS CUBA

President Kenneth Kaunda has reiterated Zambia's support for the presence of the Cuban troops in Angola.

Dr. Kaunda who is in West Germany said in an interview that the Cubans were in Angola to help the legitimate government there to counteract South Africa's attacks.

He pointed out that South African Forces have in the past launched constant attacks on Angola and were at the moment on Angolan soil making things difficult for the Angolan Army which less than ten years ago was a guerrilla force and only became a regular one after independence in 1975.

The President also said that apart from the unprovoked attacks on Angola the racist South Africans were also supporting the rebels seeking to overthrow the legitimate government. He said that because of these constant attacks staged by the South African regular army, they needed the regular Cuban forces to contain the situation.
