Calling All Nigerians

The Movement For Democracy In Nigeria

The Movement For Democracy In Nigeria urgently invites all Nigerians abroad, especially the students, to take note of the current orchestrated and paid for demonstrations scheduled for MARCH 11 in London and other cities in North America in late March and early April.

Since the military seized power from the elected federal and state governments on December 31st, 1983, there had hardly been any spontaneous demonstrations within Nigeria.

Ironically, some groups of Nigerian opportunists and headline seekers living out here in Europe and enjoying the FREEDOM, LIBERTY and TOLERANCE of their democratic host countries are organising demonstrations in support of the Nigerian military rulers.

There can be no reason for this sponsored demonstration except for purposes of ingratiating themselves and to further their personal ambitions and business interests.

We ask: from where does the money for the free transportation and refreshment promised for the demonstrators come; who is Francis Arthur Nzeribe fooling in sponsoring these demonstrations after having been a senator in the last civilian government and having been known for his controversial business connections?

The Movement for Democracy in Nigeria advises all freedom loving Nigerians to stay away from these demonstrations. To the long suffering students, especially those under private sponsorship, whose chances of getting free remittance are now non-existent, we say don't allow yourselves to be used as guinea pigs in these orchestrated demonstrations.
