OAU warning on rugby ties with S. Africa
The Organization of African Unity (OAU) has said it was unconvinced by efforts of New Zealand Prime Minister David Lange to prevent the planned tour of South Africa Polo. later this year by his country's rugby team and warned that the tour could lead to New Zealand's sporting isolation. It said it "appreciated" Lange's recent visits to five African countries and his gesture in sending an envoy to the OAU itself to explain his government's difficulties.
But the proposed tour, if it went ahead constituted a clear and unequivocal violation of the Commonwealth Gleneagles agreement of 1977, the Edmonton resolution of 1978, and the Brisbane code of conduct of 1982, the OAU said.
The OAU warned that the tour could jeopardise New Zealand's participation in the 1986 Commonwealth games in Edinburgh, Scotland, and possibly lead to its isolation in international sport.

Cameroon out of World Cup contest
Reigning African Nations Cup champi Cameroon 'Indomitable Lions' have been sent out of the World Cup elimination Zambia in a resounding 5-2 goals aggregate score.Playing with their 'imported professionals’ the Cameroon Lions could not salvage the 4-1 humiliation by Zambia in the first leg decided in Lusaka.
Rather, the Camerounians, 1982 wonder African flagbearers in the World Cup in Spain, were forced to retreat when visiting Zambians hit the net early in the early minutes. A free-kick outside the area was powerfully directed past goalie Nko by skipper Jones Chilengi. The 100,000 capacity crowd at the Omnisp Stadium, Yaounde, who had come to the professionals perform their 'magic' were stunned with disbelief.
