Our Two-Week Pause

For the past two weeks, we have been unable to produce Talking Drums. Over in the little hovel on Mansfield Road which serves as office for the three of us that constitute Talking Drums, these past two weeks have been torment.

The sentiment that comes nearest to our feelings has been that felt on the bereavement of a close relation, a child in our case, as we were faced with the possibility of having to admit defeat and see the paper, our baby of two years, die. The "begging, stealing and borrowing" on which we have produced Talking Drums in the past two years, we know ourselves, cannot go on forever, and we are again faced with the reality of the marketplace.

We have been overwhelmed by the avalanche of callers and well-wishers who have called us to find out what was happening and to give us encouragement. We thank all those who have written and telephoned to express their solidarity and good wishes.

It is time everybody who reads and enjoys Talking Drums decided whether it is worth saving - if you think it has a relevant role, please take out a subscription, place an advertisement with us and encourage your friends to do the same. It is the only way we can survive. Our survival depends on you.
